Despite it being a Wednesday night with cold rainy weather, devoted folk metal fans gathered in long lines outside Irving Plaza hours before the doors opened. The show marked the finale of US leg of Eluvetie’s Origins World Tour. It has been about two years since Eluveitie graced the NYC stage. On December 20 2012, they co-headlined with Wintersun and performed to a sold out show at the Gramercy Theater. This time around Eluveitie returned to promote their sixth studio album, Origins...*

Lute-back Hurdy Gurdy by Jean-Claude Boudet, made in 1993. 
I am the second owner. This instrument was made for a local musician who picked it up from Mr. Boudet in France. [owner] purchased it from her in 2008.

Beautiful woods on the body (I do not know the names of the woods).
Carved figurehead of a woman.
Cross-hatched fields on the pegbox.
Incised decoration on the keyboard.
Marked: Boudet Jean-Claude Jenzat Allier
Two chanterelles and four drones (gros bourdon, petite bourdon, mouche, and trompette.)
Four sympathetic strings.
Chromatic two-octave range (G-F).
Geared tuners make tuning a complete breeze.
Keys are wood and bone.
Dark wood and light wood and bone purfling with a red inner band.
Beautiful floral marquetry on the bottom of the body, where the crank inserts.
Plays wonderfully. Intonation is set very well.
Strung and tuned for C/G.
Has integral strap buttons. Comes with a strong leather waist strap.
Includes a hard-sided wheeled suitcase that makes a great case.

Some light signs of wear, including some light marks to the table, some light loss of finish on the keybox cover near the head, and buckle-rash on the back. The action is smooth, fast, and comfortable.

Primeiro encontro (contemporâneo e/ou registrado) realizado entre os músicos ativos da viela de roda no Brasil, criado por Rique Meirelles. O evento se deu na cidade de Curitiba, PR no dia 15 de Novembro, pelos gramados no Museu Oscar Niemeyer. Contamos com a presença de seis vielistas de três estados diferentes, bem como entusiastas, fãs de trabalhos artísticos presentes e músicos renomados da cidade de Curitiba, adicionando riqueza e diversidade a um evento cuja proposta inicial era bastante informal. *

Sinceros agradecimentos a todos que puderam estar presentes e contribuíram para que o sonho de realizar este encontro anualmente se torne realidade de agora em diante. Muitos vielistas nacionais não puderam comparecer este ano, mas com a velocidade que este instrumento está conquistando o país, é provável que o nosso segundo encontro conte com diversos outros músicos!

Após longa e merecida espera, Curitiba, a capital da viela de roda no Brasil, vai fazer jus ao seu título:

É com um pouco de atraso - mas com imenso prazer - que venho convida-los para esse momento histórico que será o primeiro encontro de vielas de roda a ocorrer em nosso país. 

Sim, ainda somos poucos; e sim, mal ou bem, todos iniciantes. Ainda assim, esse encontro promete ser épico em muitos níveis.

Apesar de ser um evento teoricamente informal de algumas poucas (e loucas) pessoas; nossa tarde no Museu Oscar Niemeyer promete ser inesquecível por diversas razões. A riqueza e variedade de músicos, bem como seus instrumentos e suas respectivas histórias; as tunes de diferentes fontes e muitos, mas muitos sons diferentes, vão tornar esse dia um dos mais mágicos para nós, "rabequeiros de roda". 

Quem não puder ir, avise, divulgue, convide. Quanto mais pessoas aparecerem por lá, melhor. Vamos encantar cada vez mais pessoas com a nossa querida viela de roda e trocar experiências, sons e memórias. Isso vai ser lindo!
