in het weekend van 16 augustus is Dominique Forges in Eindhoven voor een concert met BandaBéro op het Parkfest festival. Deze unieke kans heeft de Stichting aangegrepen om samen met dit festival een interessante workshop voor (ver)gevorderde draailierspelers met Forges te organiseren. Deelnemers aan deze workshop hebben ook toegang tot de festivaldag waar hij speelt.
In verband met de soundcheck van BandaBéro voor hun concert die avond, zal de workshop tot 15:00 duren. We vragen begrip voor dit vroege einde, maar daarom beginnen we ook op tijd. Dit is gedeeltelijk afhankelijk van de logistiek van het festival.

Dominique Forges behoeft weinig introductie. Met recht kunnen we stellen dat hij tot de internationale top van draailierspelers behoort en heeft hij zijn stempel op de Franse volksmuziek gezet. Zo schreef hij de sessiekraker 'La Sansonette'. Hij is naast een zeer begaafde muzikant, ook een voortreffelijke docent en draailier didacticus, waar gevorderde draailierspelers zeker iets van kunnen leren.

Geen instrument? Geen probleem, die nemen wij mee!
In deze workshops of try-out sessies gaan we in op de geschiedenis en klank van de doedelzak of de draailier en bovenal gaan we aan de slag om zelf muziek te maken. Samen gaan een eerste melodie proberen.
Kan je geen noten lezen? heb je geen muzikale ervaring? perfect! Het is immers een introductie.
We hebben geen Schotse of Ierse doedelzakken bij ons, maar de draailieren en doedelzakken zoals deze traditioneel bespeeld worden in bijvoorbeeld Frankrijk, België of Nederland. Misschien herken je ze wel van de schilderijen van de Oude Meesters zoals Jeroen Bosch of Pieter Breughel.
Deze workshops is bedoeld voor eenieder die zich een uur met plezier wil inzetten en geïnteresseerd is in deze instrumenten.

In these introductionworkshops everyone will try and play bagpipe or hurdy-gurdy. Together we will try to make a first melody.
Do you have no musical experience? Can't you read musical notes? Perfect!! It's an introduction workshop, specialy for beginners.
You don't have to bring your own instrument, we will bring some bagpipes and hurdy-gurdies.
Do you like to join us?
Please register at the informationstand during the festival.
Don't wait to long! We have a limited stock of instruments

Tijdens Castlefest probeerden we zoveel mogelijk bezoekers op een draailier of doedelzak te laten spelen. Onder begeleiding konden bezoekers één van deze instrumenten uitproberen. *
Altijd supertof om te zien als mensen voor het eerst op het instrument spelen waar ze van houden smile emoticon Het was dan ook een geweldig weekend! Organisatie, Vrijwilligers en bezoekers... dank jullie wel!

Op zaterdag kwamen Kelten zonder Grenzen een klein optreden verzorgen. Ook kwamen verschillende muzikanten langs voor voor een jamsessie... altijd fijn smile emoticon

On Saturday came Kelten Zonder Grenzen a small gig care. Also several musicians came along for a jam session... Always nice:-)

11 - 14 JULY; Château d’Ars, FR: Le Son Continu
Le Rassemblement
Du samedi 11 au 14 juillet « Le son continu » rassemble les passionnés des instruments, musiques et danses populaires dans le parc du château d’Ars près de La Châtre en Berry dans l'Indre (36). Au centre de la manifestation, un salon de lutherie, avec plus d’une centaine d’exposants, de facteurs de vielles, de cornemuses, d’accordéons, et autres instruments liés aux musiques acoustiques et ethniques.
Autour du salon, diverses animations sont proposées aux visiteurs : initiation aux danses traditionnelles, présentation des instruments par les luthiers, conférences, concours, scènes ouvertes, parquets de bal. Les concerts du soir vous feront découvrir des artistes renommés.
Un village de stands associatifs liés aux musiques et danses traditionnelles, des buvettes, des artisans de bouche locaux proposant différents points de restauration complètent l’offre. Aux alentours, un camping est organisé pour les spectateurs venus de loin. Cet ensemble d’activités est accessible du matin au petit matin suivant : on peut librement y danser, jouer, flâner, se restaurer ...

Chants de Vielles c’est dans moins d’un mois / In less than one month by now
– Le quintette écossais de l’heure BREABACH, le trio indie-folk-country de Moncton LES HAY BABIES, le magnifique trio BROU-HAMON-QUIMBERT ainsi que le génial quatuor ‘NDIAZ de Bretagne, l’érudit virtuose TIM ERIKSENde Nouvelle-Angleterre, le chanteur MICHEL FAUBERT, les maîtres sonneurs français ÉRIC MONTBEL et MARC ANTHONY, la formation mythique québécoise ENTOURLOUPE, le quintette irlando-québécois MATCHING KEYS, la chanteuse MÉLISANDE électro-trad, le grand multi-instrumentiste JEAN-FRANÇOIS BÉLANGER et le fameux power trio lanaudois DE TEMPS ANTAN seront parmi les 60 artistes du Québec, d’Europe et d’Amérique du Nord qui prendront part à la 11e édition du Festival Chants de Vielles les 26, 27 et 28 juin 2015 à Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu.

We can’t quite believe that there is just a month to go until the start of the festival and with an already packed programme of events.
The timeless Scottish Quintet BREABACH; the Moncton indie-folk-country trio LES HAY BABIES (winner at 2015 East Coast Music Awards); from Brittany, the magnificent a cappella trio BROU-HAMON-QUIMBERT and the awesome quartet ‘NDIAZ; from New England, the scholar and virtuoso TIM ERIKSEN with his trio Pumpkintown; multi-disciplinary artist MICHEL FAUBERT; the master French piper ERIC MONTBEL and hurdy-gurdy player MARC ANTHONY; Quebec’s mythical group ENTOURLOUPE; Irish-Quebecers MATCHING KEYS; the great multi-instrumentalist JEAN-FRANÇOIS BÉLANGER; the power trio from Lanaudière DE TEMPS ANTAN; and singer MELISANDE with her electro-trad project will be among the 60 artists from Québec, Europe, and North America who will take part in the 11th edition of Chants de Vielles on June 26, 27, and 28, 2015.
In the enchanting setting of one of the most beautiful villages in Quebec, Chants de Vielles is a unique opportunity to share the world of acoustic musicians and music in an intimate setting. You will experience the music of a multitude of instruments including voice, fiddle, and the hurdy-gurdy.
Breaking borders and genres, this event takes place in a lovely setting on a comfortable scale with the highest quality musical experience. Visitors are invited to explore and discover songs, music, and dances from Quebec and elsewhere. The collaborations between musicians and visitors of many countries and cultures provide value as they feed creativity and open-mindedness.
More than 45 workshops and concerts will be presented continuously in three areas including an amphitheater on the Richelieu River as well as historical local buildings.
Among the other highlights of this festive weekend include the assembly of singers and the Fest-Noz (Bal night Breton), on-stage meetings of singers and musicians, the hiking song, and the famous Parade of singers, musicians, and the curious through the streets of the village.

This year there is a stronger emphasis on programming and activities developed specially for children. Scheduled are creative workshops, shadow theater, storytelling, and many kinds of dance. Parkfest is een mooie verzameling van muziekstijlen, die allemaal terug te voeren zijn op de basis “Folk” . In de in totaal 30 optredens zie je de Ierse muziektraditie terugkomen, met opzwepende violen en ritmische bodhrans. Maar ook de Engels Folk, met ballads en verhalen zul je op Parkfest vinden. De aansluiting bij Pagan folk, ruige Keltische muziek enerzijds, de Singer/Songwriters met intieme liedjes aan de andere kant. En dat muziek niet alleen is om op een stoel naar te luisteren, dat vind je in de Balfolk die uit Frankrijk en België naar Nederland is over komen waaien, dat is muziek die bedoeld is om op te dansen.
Verder over de grens hebben we Amerikaanse vormen van Folk, zoals Blue Grass. Daarnaast laten we Nederlandse folktraditie niet onbelicht. Tot slot laten we bezoekers graag verrassen met cross-overs met andere muziekstijlen. Hoe je het ook bekijkt: De muziek van Parkfest boeit!
