Always wanted to learn how to play the hurdy-gurdy or bagpipe? Or are you an advanced player who wants to improve his or her playing? This will be possible during this Courseday of the Dutch Hurdy-Gurdy and Bagpipe Foundation. During this day there will be hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe and other music courses for the beginner and the advanced player.

The courses will start at 10.00 until 17.00. This day will take place in primary school "De Griffel" in Zeist (near Utrecht).

This will be possible during the Courseday of Draailier and Doedelzak. During this day there will be hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe and other music courses for the beginner and the advanced player. Lack of an instrument is not an excuse, because we have instruments for rent for the beginner groups. Application is possible through the application-form. Annulation is possible, but refunds are only applicable under certain circumstances, see our annulation conditions. The courses will start on saturday the 7th of october at 10.00 until 17.00. In this workshop Rene will show and explain his way of playing the hurdy-gurdy. In this workshop he will work with modern tunes, sometimes polyphonic. He likes G/C, D/G and other hurdygurdies in his group. Rene is a famous Dutch HG-player and one of the founders of our foundation. Be prepared to be challenged by this excellent hurdy-gurdy player!

This day Koen Dhoore will give a hurdygurdy workshop for halfadvanced and advanced players. If you play hurdy-gurdy with other instruments, for instance in a band, where do you have to deal with? Are there things you should consider in your playing style and techniques? Besides this important issue, we will also focus on playing techniques and ornamentation.

Always wanted to learn how to play the hurdy-gurdy or bagpipe? Or are you an advanced player who wants to improve his or her playing? This will be possible during the annual spring weekend of Draailier and Doedelzak. During this weekend there will be hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe and other music courses for the beginner and the advanced player. During the day the courses will be held. In the evening there will be concerts and session. Lack of an instrument is not an excuse, because we have instruments for rent for the beginner groups.

Program:
Participants are welcome to arrive on friday 8th of April in the evening. This evening is open for session, talks, a drink and maybe a concert. The courses will start on saturday the 9th at 9.30 and will last untill sunday the 10th 17.00. Saturday evening at 20.00 there will be concerts or ball. Afterwards there will be time for session. Non-participants are also welcome on this evening...

The creator of War of Ragnarok produced a really cool animation video for my song "Völvans spådom", featured on Ofärd's first ep "Words from the dead".

"At the roots of the nine known worlds, where the shadow of the Tree becomes one with the Abyss, Grimnir stands ready. The roar of the underground rivers is defeaning but the Masked One cares not. Never before did he speak in vain and nor shall he now. For his is the knowledge of the words of power and it is in him to know how mightily, how high they should be sung. She sleeps in the mist, in the eternal veil of those whom the earthly element had claimed. She is gone and yet there she lies.

The truth is Grimnir needs her, as the crows needs the carrion, as a woman needs a man's seed, so does the Hanged One need his sejdkona. Thus he sings for her. And when the echo of his galdr dies out, the burial mounds are all light and carcass and spirit become one. She is here, she is now with us. Thus, she opens her dead eyes and begins her own song of vision and delusion."
