Japanese guitarist Keiji Haino has been a legend in the underground ever since he began releasing music in the 1970s. But to call it noise (or Japanoise) is a disservice to the man's startling range, which spans from his hair-raising vocals to ruminations on the ancient instrument, the hurdy-gurdy. When he wields an electric guitar in a power trio setting, he makes a ferociously loud noise on par with a force of nature. His trio Nazoranai features Stephen O'Malley and Oren Ambarchi, solo artists in their own right who also both collaborate in the metal-minimalist band, Sunn O))). Bring earplugs.
