Medieval Music in the Dales Featured Performers of the Day: Steve Tyler and Katy Marchant
Both Steve and Katy have a long pedigree with medieval music making. Steve is a founder member of Misericordia and Katy founded Daughters of Elvin some twenty years ago and are still active in both groups. They now also play in Woodwose and as a duo, combining medieval music with various folk traditions and also original composition.
Steve plays hurdy gurdy, harp and cittern and Katy bagpipes, shawm and recorder. Here is a taste of their sound with 'Purgatory/Paradise' from Woodwose's latest album: https://soundcloud.com/
Worth noting too that Steve is also leading a hurdy-gurdy workshop at Medieval Music in the Dales. Places still available but it's filling up fast... Bookings at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/medieval-music-in-the-dales
